Repurposed Child's School Desk Top

I have a friend who works for the school district. One of the desks broke and they were going to throw it away, but my friend knew that I could make something creative out of it so she brought it home to me. Here is the result of what i did with the desktop. It will hang outside my friend's Door for Halloween! The trick or treat border can be found on HeatherM's blog, the witch I think came from CardmkrLeslie's Blog...if not check it out anyway she has lots of great info and cool svg's on her blog as well, and the haunted house is one I made last year for halloween. Font is Addams Capitals. TFL

Faux Metal Bracelet

Every year I have a tradition with my grandkids ages 2-8 where I keep them for the weekend sometime before Christmas. We bake cookies, make candies and gingerbread houses and of course we have to do something crafty so they have presents to take home to mommy and daddy! I was looking around today when I found this awesome faux metal bracelet. It is made with cardboard (I used heavy cardstock), glue, tin foil and a toothpick (I used an old pen with no ink in it) and paint, can you believe that??? It sounded so simple I just had to try it! This is how mine turned out! I added the crystal in the center of the star to give it a lil added extra bling! Can't wait to see how creative my lil ones will be when making thiers! Still on the hunt for a daddy present they can make! :) TFL and if you want directions you can find them here at http://www.favecrafts.com/Jewelry-Making/Faux-Forged-Foil-Bracelets

Note holder

These have to be the simplest lil things to throw together and they would make a great gift for anyone who is in an office or even to put by your phone or computer in your home. Although I just decided to put the word Notes on it, you could certainly personalize it with someone's name and something like "Notes from Kim" or whatever you like, you get the picture.

All it takes to make it is an acrylic picture frame, any size you choose, (mine is 5x7 from dollar tree) scrapbook paper of your choice cut to fit frame (5x7) one inch wide works best...mine was two so I folded it in half and it worked great! Post it note (dollar tree find in 4 pack) and some double sided heavy duty stick scrapbook tape (dollar tree) to adhere post it notes to the frame and embellishments of your choice. The possibilities are endless. I chose to just keep it simple and stamped hello in the corner of the first few pages of the post its and then embellished with vinyl. Super simple project that took me less than ten minutes from start to finish!
Thanks for looking and if you have any questions that I didn't already explain, feel free to ask or email me.

Blog Award

Wow, I feel so blessed today! I just recieved my very first Blog award from Stacy, over at Love That Bug - please check out her blog, she has some great stuff on there! I just want to say thank you for choosing my blog! I am in shock and very excited! It is my job now to pass this award on to 15 blogs that I feel are deserving. I have chosen blogs that I found to be inspiring to me for many different reasons and have listed them in no particular order.

Please take a moment and check out their blogs! Hopefully they will inspire you as much as they do me! Thanks again Stacy! I appreciate it!

Halloween Treat Cups

I found these really cool cups in orange on closeout at our Family Dollar store for .50 cents each. At the time I picked them up I was just thinking, *cool, non spill cups - these would be great for my grandkids!" So of course I picked them up. Well I have since decided that they needed to be decorated lol. I was thinking that this would make a cute and usable alternative to my normal halloween pails filled with candy for them, So I put their names on the front side in their favorite colors, a pumpkin and spider on the back using the Potpourri Cart, and of course I will fill them with goodies! I will give them to my lil angels on Halloween as a very special and lasting treat from Grammy! Thanks for looking! :)

Kindness and Compassion

Last year I was looking for the Neiman Marcus cookie recipe when I happened to come across a really cool old ad that they had. The woman was made out of all sorts of words all having to do with fashion. I really liked the way she looked and decided to make her into an svg. Although the svg turned out nicely, I just couldn't think of how I was going to use her until now. One thing I think that all of us need to remember is how have kindness and compassion for others. My momma always taught me to treat others how I want to be treated, and sometimes I think we are all guilty of forgetting this little fact. Thanks for looking and may the rest of your day be blessed with kindness and compassion towards you and your fellow man.

Onsies

I am not a huge fan of the freezer paper method of making shirts, onesies etc...So I thought I would make my own lil pattern of the very popular ipood onsie for heat transfer vinyl. I just like the HTV so much better because I am all about fast!!! Wanted to do the "Chicks dig me!" in yellow but only had green left...ah well it turned out ok. TFL

Chalkboard Tutu

I recently saw a version of this on the cricut message board and so I knew that I had to make and personalize these for my 4 very girly girl grand daughters for Christmas! Greenbean Crafterole has a great "tutu-torial" on her blog. TFL!

My Apologies

Wow, life can be so hectic sometimes, and mine has of late! Just wanted to apologize to my followers for not posting since Christmas. Sometimes things (life in general) take precedence over everything else. But I am back and will try to post more often!

I recently did a show at an Air Faire and here are some of the signs that I did for that particular show. Thanks for stopping by and thanks as always for taking the time to look!
